Path from valuation & appraising to acquisitions, REPE, REIT, or developer?

In my first job out of college 4 months ago, I got hired in NYC at a national appraiser shop. I can see the money being pretty good by my second year, and I like my office and team a lot, but I don't feel that the grind, hours, and sweat are rewarded as much as they should be. I feel like if I stay too long then I have to make it my career. How can I maximize my experience and what skills and certifications should obtain in order to make a move to acquisitions, REPE, or REIT etc.  Is it too much of a long shot? I don't have any prior CRE experience as I studied finance and was initially targeting finance careers, so looking for some advice or guidance.  Thanks!

I started my career in apparisal (there are a bunch of us on this forum) and now work at a debt fund. Totally doable. Your easiest way out is to sell the modeling and client interaction skills you've obtained while an appraiser.
