REPE Modeling Tests/Case Studies - excel shell/template given?
When given a REPE excel modeling test as part of a case study - do you usually have to create your model completely from scratch? or do they give you some sort of shell/template with the line items to work with?
This could be obvious but I've never had any of these yet, and just want to prepare as best as possible.
Expect to create a model from scratch but for it to be very simple in terms of the assumptions and line items. Feel free to PM me if you want a few sample ones that I have taken over the years from several REPE firms.

What kind of time line did the firms give you to create the model? I assume if they only give you a couple hours it couldn't get to complex. Also what did they expect you create in your models? besides the regular line items, did they expect an debt/amortization schedule, waterfall, sensitivity analysis, etc?
Typically 3 to 4 hours. It won't get too complex in terms of assumptions / line items but you had to create debt / amort schedule along with waterfall and sensitivity analysis in the majority of my excel tests I have done.

In a similar boat, for an analyst position at a megafund REPE group out of undergrad. What are some good ways to go about preparing technicals and how might the modeling test differ than for an associate position/someone interviewing from IBD?
