REPE - Northwood Investors ?
Posted this in the PE forum as well - looking if maybe anyone here has some knowledge to share.
Thanks
Anyone know anything about the firm?...have an interview here to come in as an Analyst (post BB banking analyst). Would like to know pay (especially with the structure where post banking is an analyst), culture, lifestyle, types of deals worked on, etc.
Couldn't find much trying to research / google.
Thank you
Northwood is one of the best REPE funds. It would be a phenomenal place to start on the buy side. It was founded by John Kukral, who started Blackstone's REPE business and is very, very highly respected in the business.
Can't really speak to lifestyle; comp should be in line with the best REPE funds (Starwood, Westbrook, etc)--I think this means 200-300 for a post-banking position, but honestly you probably know better than I do.
Off the top of my head, they've bought a fair amount of independent lodging in the last few years (the New York Palace, Cheeca Lodge in the Keys)--unlike most REPE funds, they manage a lot of their investments in-house rather than relying on operating partners. I think they've
Again, this is a really great firm if you want to do REPE--I can't really think of anywhere better to go after banking. Good job getting an interview.
Thank you for the insight, it is very much appreciated. I'm currently at a BB in the RE Group - so recruiting has been a bit crazy recently (all the big funds just finished - interviewed at BX, TPG, KKR, etc. - did not get further than a second round at any of them) I think the next wave is about to get going and Northwood seems to be the first of the next tier to interview. I appreciate the insight and anyone else who has anything else to share this would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone understand the concept of coming in post Banking as an analyst instead of associate? Is it something to be weary of? I know most places I interview for are associate positions except obviously BX, but the others are all associate positions.
Thanks again.
It's just a fucking title; who gives a shit. Comp and responsibilities are what matter.
It's an excellent firm with a very strong team and pedigree. If you want to be in buyside real estate immediately accept the job if you can get it. That's basically the summary.
I've worked with two guys who were analysts/associates there and they're both very strong in terms of fundamental knowledge and modeling skills. Both going to get moved up.
