Summer 2025 CRE Internship Recruiting Timeline

I'm a rising junior (BS - Finance), currently interning at a family office in acquisitions; I also hold a Texas Sales Agent License with which I've been a residential realtor for 2 years. I'm looking to intern in Summer 2025 at a reputable shop with good FT comp/exit opps for my area (Dallas). I'm looking to intern in investment sales (top brokerage like CBRE, C&W, JLL, etc.), or acquisitions/asset management (good REPE firm).

My question is, what is the recruitment timeline for these roles? As of right now (July 2024) I'm not finding many openings for Summer 2025. Do I have to wait until later in the year or have I missed the window? (Also, this is my first post so please excuse me if I broke any rules with this post).

Based on previous WSO threads, here's what you need to know about the recruitment timeline for summer internships:

  1. General Timeline:

    • Many banks and firms start their recruitment process early. For example, some banks begin their summer analyst recruiting as early as the spring semester of the sophomore year.
    • For summer 2025 roles, it's likely that the recruitment process will start soon, given that 2024 SA recruiting started early.
  2. Specific Advice:

    • Investment Banks: Some banks have already started their recruitment for summer internships by May, with applications opening up in September and recruiting continuing into the fall.
    • Consulting Firms: Firms like McKinsey have specific deadlines, such as the July 7th deadline for their Summer BA applications.
  3. Action Steps:

    • Networking: Begin networking and applying now. It's crucial to start building connections with recruiters and professionals in the industry.
    • Monitoring Openings: Keep an eye on the career pages of top brokerages and REPE firms. Openings for summer internships might not be posted yet, but they will likely appear later in the year.
    • Preparation: Ensure your resume is updated and start preparing for interviews. Consider using resources like WSO's interview prep guides and mock interviews.
  4. Additional Resources:

    • WSO Virtual Bootcamps: Consider enrolling in bootcamps like the Private Equity Interview 1-Day Bootcamp or the Financial Modeling & Valuation 2-Day Bootcamp to enhance your skills and readiness.

If you need more specific timelines or have further questions, feel free to ask on the WSO forums where many professionals and peers can provide additional insights.

Big brokerages and investment sales roles typically won’t recruit til the fall and sometimes the spring for certain locations. You’re on time I wouldn’t worry about it just keep an eye out.
