Thoughts on taking a portfolio analyst role out of undergrad at a REIT?

Recently received a job offer for a portfolio analyst position at a REIT for a very reputable shop, starting after graduation this spring. Would working at the portfolio level have a significant impact on my ability to shift to an asset level role later in my career (Acq/AM)? I know I want to work in REPE and I feel like this is solid starting position given the hiring market. I haven't seen much on portfolio management on this forum so interested to see if anyone has thoughts.

Not a bad place to start but I'd move to a direct real estate role sooner than later. Portfolio guys are VERY smart, usually more traditional finance (CFA, IB background, etc.), but it is not truly real estate investing and more focused on risk/portfolio management, determining allocations, setting macro thesis, etc. Not a boring job but maybe not what most are looking for in this industry.

Also need to be careful as at some shops it can be a glorified reporting role.
