Weird to be called in for a 2nd interview 6 weeks later?

Hey guys,

Just need some input on my situation. I interviewed for a gig late February and felt I performed very well. The interview lasted a few hours and I met with half of the total office (the rest were out that day). The only against me that I could think of is that I am on the young side and am still in school (graduating in may) although the position wouldn't even begin until june... But I do have very relevant internship experience to the role and can speak elegantly about the industry and adapt quickly.

As the weeks go by.. the recruiter from HR keeps me in the loop and says they're still "highly interested" not until last week (6 weeks after my in person interview) did they schedule me for my second in person interview.

My thoughts: They really liked me and felt I was capable of getting the job done, but I assume I was one of the first to interview and they felt they needed to shop the market to see what was out there.

Can anyone provide insight to my situation? I thought I was out of the running after 4 weeks... but now that they're inviting me back, could an offer be coming?

Its maybe bit on the slow side but this situation isn't that strange. I can tell you from experience it sometimes takes a long time to get everyone in the office on the same page about what they're looking for, fit, who they like etc. Just worry about what you can control, which is killing the 2nd interview.

Yea this happened to me this year. Interviewed, was definitely qualified and had a good interview and they reached out around 7 weeks later to schedule another interview. I wouldn't say it's the norm but also not uncommon at all.

I think in my case it was due to them recruiting a "class" of analysts but in your case it might be this, they got slammed (some project blew up) or it just took time to get through other interviewers.

Second what Lizard said, focus on your interview and don't focus on the logistics, just be better than your competition.
