I believe CPI is like 5-7% depending on where you live.. Personally I wouldn't think the reputational risk associated with this kind of request is worth that small of a pay bump.

In this case, you haven't even started yet and have nothing to show for, so I personally don't think that asking for it would be worth the risk since you haven't been able to make a name for yourself at the firm yet. I just say that because I could definitely see a particular type of higher up thinking this type of request as sort of ridiculous. I would instead work my tail off and at your 6 month review, ask for it, or maybe a 10% raise to accommodate any increased inflation at that point

On that note, if you could discuss more about how salaries are reviewed for juniors and for those starting out that’d be helpful. Given that I haven’t worked a FT position yet, I was unaware that you could ask for raises at a 6 month review. Wouldn’t you typically wait till end of year 1 or until your promoted to senior analyst or something of the sort ? Is this something you ask for or are more so wait till your manager brings it up.

A lot of big companies are increasing base salary based on inflation. Don't know the profile of your company but if it's a big one, go for it! Fuck reputational risk. You haven't worked there. Wife received increase at a top consulting firm because of inflation. I know a friend that received increase from top accounting firm because of inflation. I doubt most real estate companies would raise salaries but it's worth a shot. Real estate companies are notoriously stingy with pay, so good luck.
