atypical resume

i have a 1.5-years gap (being unemployed unfortunately) between my current job (started two years ago) and the previous one; I wonder normally how would people treat this issue (i.e. how to represent this gap in the

Specifically, i was unemployed from May, 2012 to Dec, 2013. Would the below representation be read by future employers/headhunters as a misleadeing/dishonest representation subject to potential rescind of the offer (e.g. during background check when i need to put down the specific date instead of just the year)?

isnt it a ding since it reflects badly that he tried to hide this gap by misrepresentation?

might as well put the truth and defend it through some BS story like you were travelling the country or some shit

in this case, it wont be brought up much but if it is then a likely ding

in the normal m/yr case, it will be brought up often but reasonable excuse
