Cannot Find an Internship / Resume Advice Needed
Hey guys,
Just for a quick background, I was originally a mathematics and data science major before switching over to economics. I have been on track to graduate college a year early, but this means I have to sacrifice a summer for a potential internship, so I feel a little behind now. Last summer, I was able to get a pretty decent internship, but it was a research position at a pharmaceutical company and is not related to what I truly want to do.
I am interested in equity research and investment banking, but I am having a hard time applying to internships with my lack of finance experience. I have not had any first round interviews. I am currently studying for the Securities Industry Essentials exam over winter break and plan on studying for the CFA level 1 exam starting this summer. My GPA definitely needs work, but my major GPA is 3.8. Should I put my major GPA instead?
Any tips on making my resume better suited for ER/IB internships would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys!

Personal portfolio management shouldn't be in work experience. You can add a major GPA too because since people don't know you were a math major, they'll think its a 3.4 econ which is way worse than a 3.4 math.
Where should I put it? Or should I get rid of it entirely?
You can put it under interests. Most people will assume you have shares of Microsoft, tesla, and Amazon. Not very noteworthy if so. More about interest or if you do any analysis.
