Commercial Banking Credit Analyst Resume Review

Hi Monkeys,

I'm 25-years old and hope to break into commercial banking as a Credit Analyst from an insurance/retail banking background. Please critique the attached resume as best you can! My GPA is a 2.85 (Transfer Student; Total GPA = 3.2) and is not included on my resume. Would love to read any other advice on job searches(BB,MM), interviews, career paths, or your experience as a credit analyst, if applicable. My current thought is to break in as an analyst and work my way up to relationship manager, and would love to hear your opinions on this. Truly appreciate your advice in advanced, and please annihilate my resume!

If you have at least 12 accounting hours, I would put that in a prominent spot on the resume. You should mention the specific metrics and methodologies you used when analyzing spreads if they are related to a borrowers ability to make debt payments. Also, you could elaborate on what the determinants were in the risk classes formula and how it's similar to risk rating scorecards for obligors and different loan facilities. Did you spread the statements yourself? If so, that's a good skill to highlight. Did you do any ongoing monitoring of financial covenants like net worth or leverage ratio while at either job? Regarding the "mulifaceted merchant business" consider mentioning any responsibilites you had related to Reg W compliance (transactions with affiliates). If you had any exposure to making calculations by interpreting legal agreements, you should definitely put that since that is essentially what you do with credit agreements as it relates to financial and reporting covenenants.
