Current job title does not reflect full extent of duties

Hello, currently in Financial Services in a reporting role, however, my job title does not reflect the true extent of what I do. My current title is 'Credit Reporting Specialist'. I have listed the detail of my duties in my resume, under the heading of my current title, but I am afraid that HM's might see the title and disregard my resume. I do preform a good amount of work in a credit reporting role, but I do just as much, if not more, in credit modeling, loan portfolio analysis and ad-hoc reporting.

Could I change the title to something like 'Credit Specialist', or is this a huge no-no?

It's absolutely not a huge no-no.

In fact, on my resume, I always state my title as "Rainmaker/BSD" instead of "analyst", because I think it reflects my contributions to the company a lot more accurately.

HAHAHHA, good one man!

Listen, all background checks are farmed out to outside firms. They are going to call up and ask "did John work here from these dates to this date in the title XYZ". You can be off by a couple weeks on the dates you worked, but if you start making up titles you will be flagged.

Use the bullet points under the title to describe what you did in your job. Real simple man.
