Fraternity Position on Resume - Yay or Nay
Hello, I'm currently working on my resume and I'm not sure if I should put my fraternity leadership position in the leadership section. Do you thing it shows leadership or just gives a bad vibe? Thanks!

Most definitely put it, I know lots of people with that on there.
This is finance buddy... a majority of the guys in this industry were in fraternity's and can definitely help you.
Okay, just wanted to be safe
What fraternity? PM or reply
list your chill-to-pull ratio too if its 4:4 or higher
the McCoy ratio is actually 5:5
Jesus I haven't heard that in years! The rush/bid session video is still hilarious. I wonder what Jimmy Tatro is up to now...
I still watch his video's from time to time. Perfect thing to put on if I want a few good laughs.
FratLord please give us your input on this inquiry
You can't get in with lout the right handshake!
Definitely yes. Generally gives an indication of whether you were social or socially inept in college, which definitely matters for culture fit
Put it on your resume when you apply for analysts jobs. Take off the leadership position but leave the fraternity name when you apply for jobs after that.
Do what Imsurance said. Definitely mentioned the fraternity but not "Social Chair" or something bs. We definitely like to help out fellow alumni/brothers.
I can't tell you how many times I've run into fraternity brothers while networking or looking for jobs, all because I have my vice president position on my resume. Random Execs will end up giving me the handshake.
Think of it this way: If you were the guy who would have taken the fall if the cops tried to bust your chapter, you could be the guy who takes the fall if FINRA busts your firm.
Makes perfect sense
In all seriousness, I think there are some industries that seem to oppose Greek life, but anyone who is neutral or Pro-Greek should take it as a positive. That being said, a good number of interviewers asked me why I joined my fraternity or what sort of people joined my fraternity --- I think that was a way of gauging if I was just a party animal or whether there was something substantive about my organization. I would personally have a good story to tell as to why you joined.
This is a no brainer, but I've seen it before from dudes from my fraternity, if your exec. board positions have a Greek or Latin name for them, change it to the normal name on your resume (ex from my fraternity: don't put Consul or Magister on your resume, put President or Pledge Trainer instead).
In Hoc, @WidespreadPanic90" ?
Also, very good advice. I was a Vice President, according to my resume, not a Pro Consul. Amusingly, a big shot developer brought that change up.
IHSV, CRE
Yeah, I help out the undergrads resumes for business school/OCS applications and I tell them they'll think you were in some weird Classics club if you put Consul, Pro-Consul or Magister as a title.
100% do it. There's a big difference between being in SAE and being the Risk Manager of SAE. SAE members are shit heads, managing shit heads is life. It's a lot of work to be on exec in a fraternity, fraternities are effectively 20 guys running the show, 30 pledges, and 100 guys just showing up, drinking beer and paying dues.
Only time I would leave it off is if your chapter got kicked out or in serious trouble while you were in a position of power. Nobody wants to be the 2016-17 President of Beta at Penn State.
Obvious where you didn't get a bid from.
Is that Sandusky's chapter?
