One of the main questions the BBs as well as boutiques asked me was whether or not I was graduating within a year. Note that this is important because firms hire SAs to potentially hire them full time, IF they do well enough during the summer.
I assume you're at a target...rezzy looks good but drop the high school shit no one cares unless you went to Andover/Exeter.
Are you Greek? You might be able to pull of applying to one of those sophomore BB diversity programs. My cousin pulled it off.
I have the credits to graduate in 3 years (total) but my plan is to see how recruiting goes and then decide whether or not to opt for a combined masters program that my university offers.
In an interview I would market myself as a 3-year grad
I definitely think you'll be competitive. For the boutique M&A, you mention doing financial analysis of 450 companies. You better damn well know how to explain what you were doing - that would be really embarrassing in an interview. Not saying you don't know what you were doing, but just make sure you don't hype up anything because, while it might look good on paper, it will always come back to bite you.
Semi-target. Born here, parents are both greek. If I could pull something in the middle market (SA), could I "decide" to go back for msf in order to try for BB (after saying I would graduate in 3 years)?
You started a "document imaging" company the summer after your sophomore year in high school..? Questionable.
I research the companies (unless they're pub.) and use their revenue and ebitda to rate the companies using the firms proprietary system. Not exactly technical, in all honesty but I wanted to quantify my work somehow. That number (450) is probably much higher
Yes, small operation. Rented office space. Hired a few people from ads I put out. What's questionable about it? I'm very comfortable discussing that experience
Nah if it was all you than major props, what I did in high school was way different that's all. I'm from the south though, I feel like you're probably from the north.
Wow what an overachiever! Not saying that's a bad thing though. Everything looks solid, just make sure you can talk about everything really well and you have a good shot. BB Sophomore programs are probably more realistic than BB IB SA.
I know a few rising juniors who were able to get BB IB SA but they all said that they were rising seniors or lied that they would be graduating in a year. You have a great chance at a smaller IB SA though.
Wouldn't a SA role in the MM be more valuable than a BB diversity program? Experience>Brand Name is my rationale
It really depends. Obviously a MM IBD SA role is extremely helpful if you want to eventually get BB IBD SA, but BB sophomore programs are quite hard to get into and are not just a brand name, and I believe most of the people that get in are able to get BB IBD SA as rising seniors.
I think when you say Experience > Brand Name, a more accurate comparison would be IB Boutique vs BB PWM. In that case, the boutique is better for most people.
Would you take a solid MM over a diversity program? And given my experience, do you think both are attainable
Sometimes..
Stud Resume great work, why not stay 4 years? Just wondering cuz I'm sure you could get an awesome summer internship and leverage that to a BB summer internship.
The idea is that if I can get a decent internship next year (and a ft offer), I would just finish a year early. In the event that this didn't happen, I would stay for msf.
The start-up document imaging company needs to be expanded on. You risk having your resume discounted by the fact that some might not believe you/think it's a stretch. Add a few concise bullets and rework existing ones to try to a) make the business sound more legitimate, by explaining the start-up and b) quantify the operations, to make its existence more tangible. Other than that, looks like an impressive resume.
