Is listing two GPAs too tacky?

I am in a Masters program (non-MBA) and my dad passed away my first semester and unfortunately, my GPA slipped severely too. My second semester, I got a 3.8, and I plan on taking another full load for my final semester this fall to hopefully at least get up to a 3.5. Does this look too tacky under my GPA section?

OP: I believe that what you're proposing is fine. I myself did something similar; I had done poorly academically my first year due to sports and as a result had a pretty unremarkable freshman year GPA. I did well subsequently after that and listed two GPAs to reflect that. Multiple people I networked with remarked how they thought it was a good idea. I wouldn't try to explain it in a cover letter; it'll take up valuable space and make you sound like you're apologizing for it. Besides, cover letters rarely get read.

"Yes. Money has been a little bit tight lately, but at the end of my life, when I'm sitting on my yacht, am I gonna be thinking about how much money I have? No. I'm gonna be thinking about how many friends I have and my children and my comedy albums."
