Resume Questions - Econ major with a 2.7
A little bit of background: After completing two years at CC I transferred to my state school as an econ major, but after two semesters I have an awful gpa of 2.7. I've still managed to get B+ and A- in some classes, but haunted by a couple C's and a D+. Granted I still have 2-3 more semesters, to bring up my gpa.
I managed to get a winter internship right after I finished my associates (last winter) at a sales company for information services due to some family connections. They then offered me a summer internship which I gladly accepted, and I'm currently working there over my winter break, now they want me to work there when I graduate. I'm grateful for it and its comforting to know that I have a job when I graduate, except I do not want to work at this company, I have no interest in it and it seems to be the most typical, boring 9-5 imaginable.
Over the past couple years I have became interested in finance and real estate, but mostly real estate. I don't know much about either of them, especially of they are both very broad. I realize my chances are tough, but I really want a summer internship in either fields in pretty much any sub-catagory. so, as of now I've made an extensive list of companies to send out cold emails, but I don't want to get completely shut down, and 'm obviously not aiming for Blackstone of GS
1) That internship is the only professional work experience I have. Other than that I did interior woodworking for a family friend, and window washing for a family friend in the past, both under the table. Should I list them on my resume?
2) I shouldn't list my gpa..right? ...( I'm using the M&A template and have some basics down)...so that's pretty much it and any feedback would be appreciated
3) I really want to study abroad next fall, except it will probably result in me taking an additional semester and graduating as a 5th year senior, are there any true negatives to that?
.
In your case I would probably do a 5th year just to get more credits in and raise that GPA. Not sure 2-3 more semesters of 4.0 (assuming you can even do that given your track record) will bring your current GPA up that much. It would have to be a full course load to make sure you can get the most weight out of this last year or so.
