Tear my CV apart

Hey guys I just wanted to get a general CV check done to see where I can improve because there's definitely a lot of areas. Since I'm studying both Engineering and Finance and my degree requires Engineering work experience before I can graduate it'd be good to get general advice however, I do want to be working in finance after I graduate. At the moment I'm looking toward IB or Consulting. Cheers

Edit - second CV has been added in response to feedback

  1. Get it down to one page.
  2. Toss out the personal statement.
  3. Change the layout to something more common in the industry.
  4. Write to fill white space. You don't want so much blank taking up the room. Easy go's - shrink the technical skills into full lines of text, make full-line bullets explaining your work experience.
  5. Please do include an "Interests" section. It can be titled "Skills and Interests" and you can combine that way.

This isn't necessarily a terrible resume, but it's truly not appropriate for today's industry and lacks detail. You should look at BB resume books or others posted online here to use as some sort of template.

Thanks for the feedback. I've made most of the changes you recommended and was wondering if I could get some revised feedback on this new copy

Absolutely!

  1. In place of your LinkedIn URL, put your current mailing address.
  2. List your GPA under your expected university grad date.
  3. Try to collapse the three bullets under your high school info so there isn't so much white space being unused (i.e. combining, columned out, etc.)
  4. Every bullet about an experience, as a rule of thumb, should be written until it hits the date. Imagine that there's a vertical line to the left of the date that each bullet must hit. Again, this fills the white space.
  5. Be more specific about your projects. Are these university-based, through work, independent? You should provide this clarity by giving location somewhere.
  6. Change "Additional Information" to "Skills & Interests." Then, have two one-line bullets for a.) Technical skills and b.) Interests. I would say you should pull up your "Associations" into its own section with explanations and a subtitle of "Extracurricular Activities".

Nice improvement from the first draft - good progress on format. Keep up the work.
