Am I making the right decision for undergrad?

The last time everyone heard from me, I was deciding between WUSTL, Rice, Notre Dame, Washington and Lee and UNC-Chapel Hill for my undergraduate education. I was leaning towards WUSTL at the time.

Recently I've come to think that I should go to UNC for a few reasons. I'd be close to my extended family in North Carolina and my immediate family is moving to North Carolina after I graduate high school as well. Family is pretty important to me.

A secondary factor is also that because of my mom's new job as a university executive in the UNC system, I would get in-state tuition even though I'm an out-of-state student. This would save about $150,000 over top privates. I could use this money later on for an MBA.

Will I be hurting myself for future job opportunities by choosing UNC over top privates? Is UNC as much of a target as the other schools?

Also, I have opted to remain on the waiting list for UVA. If I get in, is it worth the extra cost over UNC? UVA would be about twice as expensive as UNC because of the high out of state tuition.

What is your goal? If your goal is IB I think UNC will get you there. UNC is a good school, get good grades, network you will be fine.

I'm thinking I will try to work at a hedge fund. IB is a possibility though. My mom went to UNC and she had been a managing director (albeit at a ratings agency) prior to her current job, and she wasn't even a business major in college and never got an MBA. The money is really attractive for use later on (MBA, etc.), and if I'm not giving anything up by skipping out on Rice or Notre Dame then I guess UNC could be the best choice.
