As a mexican, could taking CFA improve my profile for MBA applications in the US?

Hello. I would appreciate your opinion and advise.

I am trying to decide whether to take the CFA or not. I know there are already many discussions about this but my situation is quite different.

Background: I am from Mexico. I studied in a Top 3 university. My GPA is 3.5. I worked in Wealth Management for 1 year. Now I am working in Deloitte Corporate Finance and Infrastructure & Project Capital (CF is the investment banking services of the firm). Eventually I want to move to Real Estate Private Equity.

One of my reasons for taking the CFA is that I would like to apply to a Top University in the US to study a MBA in about 3 years and I want to improve my profile.

Do you think it could help me with my admission process?

The CFA is a respected credential and passing it while working full time shows not only a knowledge of finance and the markets, but commitment, self-discipline, and time management -- all admired qualities in business school. If it will help you achieve your long-term, professional goals, it's a good idea to go for it.

However, if you are only taking the CFA for admissions purposes, devote that study time to the GMAT and getting the highest score you can on that exam. That's the key exam for MBA admissions. The CFA is an extra. The GMAT or GRE are mandatory and something that you want to do well on.
