You'll need a few years of work experience before an MBA, so I'd focus on locking up a full-time job before worrying about the GMAT. You're definitely making a smart call studying for it now - sure wish I'd done that, rather than studying around a full-time job.
Looks like OP is looking to go into consulting - the big firms require standardized test scores on the resume. Rough bar is 90th percentile SAT/ACT or GMAT, preferably GMAT.
Agreed with the above. Find a job first, then start studying. Kudos for starting early just in case you're not one of the lucky ones who can score a 730+ within a few weeks of studying.
Hey, thanks for the responses, really appreciate them. By end of this year, I will know what I will be doing FT (hopefully much sooner) so I just wanted to know if anyone has done it while in school or found good ways to manage the process. Thanks!
A reasonable strategy if you're still studying in school would be to be able to manage it like this: - Workweek (business days): for school, schoolwork, school-related assignments & projects; - Week-ends: For GMAT studying & preparation Beware that this can be extremely challenging, especially given the fact that you're probably aiming to achieve and/or maintain a relatively high GPA. I also did it in when I was in school and got 730. Best to finish the GMAT off in school so that you can focus on gaining the right experiences and polishing your app rather than worrying about the test. You should start off with a couple of practice tests to benchmark yourselves. Once you know which areas need focus you can deep dive into them. For the other areas, simply brushing up the concepts and some practice should be good enough. I would also suggest looking for some coaching to really ensure a good score. I haven't seen many who have been able to do it in lesser time.
