Canadian Life Science PhD for Biotech IB/PE - enroll in MBA?

Hi everyone,

I am mid-way through a Life Science PhD at the University of Toronto (so I guess top rank in Canada) with experience in medical and agricultural research (academia) and also working part-time with a life sci AI company. My end goal post-grad is to either be involved in biotech IB or PE, however, I do not have industry/financial work experience. I am aware that there are many companies in the US that seek PhDs for such roles (DOC Jobs), but I am concerned that my citizenship is a limiting factor and the demand seems to be much lower in Canada.

That being said, is it reasonable to pursue an MBA (probably US) directly post-grad without work experience as way to get my foot in the door? I mean, I also see it as an opportunity to expand my knowledge base and to grow my network... I have a 4.0/4.0GPA from undergrad and I'd like to think I have a pretty good story.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
