Chances for admission at top UK Masters
Hello Everyone, just wanted your opinions on my profile and chances of getting into top finance masters : Oxford MFE, LSE Mif, LBS MFA
My profile:
Did the French "classes préparatoires" (greatly recognised in France, dunno if it counts for UK)
Master student from a semi target in France, majoring in quant finance GPA 4.0/4.0
GMAT Focus 705 (98th-99th percentile)
Toefl 112/120
Finance exp; 1 year in IB in MM banks
Extracurricular: competitive sports, student union, Master Thesis on debt markets
Thanks in advance for your help!
Get into lse and lbs easily and also good chance into Oxford mfe
Thanks for your opinion, how would you rank the masters in terms of opportunities?
I don't think you will get Oxford MFE. With a strong CV and experinces maybe LSE/LBS
Thanks for your reply! Yes I know Oxford’s MFE is really competitive but I felt that my stats were on par with the average of MFE students. I think I am still gonna give it a try, but that definitely is a dream shot.
How would you rank the three programs?
Oxford>LBS>LSE LBS above LSE for its practical approach and much better career center (as if LSE had one lol)
You are good for LBS and LSE, Oxford will be more difficult but you stand a chance there as well. Why don’t u consider HEC MIF as well?
Thanks! I do consider HEC MiF too but as I already hold a « Grande École » program in another top French business school HEC will not have the impact of LSE/LBS or Oxford. In France prépa + Grande École is king. So getting HEC for the MiF is not as interesting than UK programs which give me geographical diversification. HEC MiF still top tier program no doubt probably equivalent to LSE/LBS.
Not sure how much it is still looked at but your Toefl is quite low. Would consider re-taking to get 117+ unless not requested in application anymore
Ummm not sure though as TOEFL is graded out of 120 and with 112 I check all the boxes of every program around the world. The requested score for TOEFL is 100 for LSE/LBS and 110 for Oxford (highest in the world). I do not think Toefl is taken into account, it is just a box to check. A friend of mine even got offered a place at Oxford despite not checking the required 110. She had to retake the Toefl and she got 111 so got in. But they offered a place without her having the TOEFL requirement. And 112 on the TOEFL is not considered low I think, it is above all hurdle.
