all of these schools but washu is no where to be seen...

My poem about washu:

Red Blue Washuuuu

I love youuuu

Washuuuuu

In all seriousness add Emory and Washu

Washu is in St Louis Missouri just so you know. The wash part is from george washington. But if you dont want those two seems like a complete list.

Ignore my title. I’m a few years removed from UG at this point, are high schoolers really applying to 20+ colleges these days? This seems like a ton, but maybe I’m outdated.

Regardless, this seems like a good list of targets and semi-targets. Idk your stats and what you are looking for regarding an UG experience, but maybe include some other schools that place fairly well and provide a different experience than most of the schools above (SMU, UMiami, UFlorida, etc.)

Agree with smu. 50% acceptance rate for a target(regional)is great value.

You need to make sure that you have 1-2 safeties under your belt. I assume IU is one of them? For the UCs, I don't think you need to apply to UCSB/UCSD unless you're in-state or want to spend extra money on the applications. The school choices look good, with many strong and semi-target schools. Another thing you want to consider is whether you want to go to a school in the middle of nowhere or prefer an urban environment. I go to Notre Dame. It's not rural per se, but there's nothing much to do outside of the campus. The campus makes it up with many activities happening on campus like clubs and sports games.

Social and school life matters to me. I live in Cali so that is why I am applying to UCSB/UCSD because I just check them off on the UC application. I took Dartmouth, Amherst, and Williams off the list because of the location. If the campus is lively/big to a degree then the lack of what to do outside of school would be mitigated in my mind; but I'm not sure if I could fully adapt to an environment unlike LA because I'm used to being able to do anything with less than a 30 minute drive. Thanks for the insight. Any further advice based off this?

I also came from California, Bay Area more specifically. Not many students go off-campus because there are lots of activities to do on campus; you won't get bored. Many convenience/grocery stores are located near colleges, so it's convenient to buy groceries or whatever you need without the need to drive. It ultimately depends on if you vibe with the school environment. Many people have fun at Amherst/Williams/Dartmouth because there are lots of social events on campus, including ND as well. If you're someone who likes to live in the cities, then I would cross off the schools located in rural or suburban areas.

Looks great man, write some good essays and ED to your top school. Even if you don't have a top school, applications are so competitive these days, it never hurts to ED/REA to HYPW. I'd also say get as many early action applications out as you can, and make sure all aspects of your application is polished.

If you'd like specific help, I'd be happy to give you some advice here.

ED to one of Penn CAS/Duke/Columbia/UChicago/Northwestern, best value for ED and all place great
