Cornell ILR freshman mistake

I will be a freshman at Cornell ILR. When I applied for the program, I thought that it would be the school for me since it was part business and law. However, the focus of the major will be on labor related topics. Even though I will be allowed to take business-y classes as an upperclassman, I am certain I want to to go into into investment banking and closely related fields. Then bs-school eventually.

I want to have the major that the recruiters/ interviewers look out for more often than others. From there, I'll keep my extracurricular/ internships/ gpa in check to level the playing field.

Can I transfer in to CAS for econ after the fall semester, and not have to finish the year at ILR?(possibly double major with gov't / political science) It seems from reading that in order to try to get into AEM, I have to finish an entire year, which I hope is not the case with CAS econ.

How would one go about transferring? People who have done this before, how was your experience trying to transfer? How legit does one's excuse have to be to transfer? Will ILR ppl stop you b/c they want to keep you in their major?

ALL ADVICE IS WELCOMED.

Transferring into AEM is moderately competitive. They look for good grades in the AEM courses required to transfer (which shouldn't be that hard if you are interested in finance.) In your essay, include a brief line or two specifically about what AEM offers that ILR cannot. Transferring into Econ is easier, but I would be wary of transferring into Econ, especially if you are used to the small environment situation in ILR. If you are transferring to find a major that is a better fit for interest in finance, why not go all the way into the business program, rather than the liberal arts Econ program? There are some ILR's who go into finance. ILR will not try to stop you.

Transferring might take time out of finding an internship (way more important than what your major is), studying, finance clubs, living life. Opportunity cost. PM me for more questions

Theres actually a rubric of courses needed to internal transfer into AEM that must be take. But yes, it wouldn't hurt to take the entrepreneurship series at night, they don't conflict with any other classes and are easy A+/A's.

Where do i find this rubric( for CAS and CALS). Every time I click on the ITD links, there's a sign in page that I don't know how to get thru.
