D1 players, how’s your lifestyle

Can you join a Fraternity/Sorority or participate in outside activities?

How do most people get around campus/are cars allowed freshman year for athletes?

How close are the seniors and freshman?

I was a D1 athlete - nobody has the interest or time to participate in Greek life. I knew one athlete who was in a frat and he only did it because he was out for an entire year after he had Tommy John surgery. Anyone that considered joining a frat was highly criticized, you're expected to focus solely on athletics and school and if you're truly dedicating yourself to both you will absolutely not have time for Greek life.

Depends on the school, I had a car and would also get around campus on a long board as did most athletes. Tight windows between practices/weights and class so I needed something that was faster than walking.

If you're a freshman that does not walk into the locker room and act like you own it and are mature enough to handle your own both on and off the field you'll be relatively close with the seniors. If you walk in and think you're the best on the team because you were a stud in high school it'll be a really rough freshman year. One of my best friends to this day is a guy who was a senior when I was a freshman. Have some humility and learn from the upperclassmen and you'll be fine.

Baseball as well here. Completely depends on the school and how well athletes are taken care of. My school was a mid major and we were treated the same as non athletes for the most part.

I actually had two teammates rush, but they spent all their time with the team and at practice.

Having a car depends on the school and how it’s set up. Freshman to senior interactions should be fine at most schools. They are at a completely different point in their lives so don’t expect to be best friends with them but most are friendly and welcoming to freshman.

Played D1 Football at ACC School. We were not allowed to join a Frat per team rules (one or two walk-ons joined a frat before walking on), but in general the frats did not like us because we "stole their girls". We lived off the main campus in university owned apartments all years think regular students stayed in dorms 1st & 2nd years then moved off campus. We were allowed to have cars, but took the campus buses from our Apt to athletic facilities and classes. Seniors/Freshman generally not that close
