Duke MMS vs. HEC Paris MIB

Hi guys,

I am trying to break into banking but with my undergrad degree and my Master in Finance both from an absolute non-target in Central Europe I couldn't get a single interview for a SA internship position summer. This is why I want to go to a target b-school for 1 more year (i.e. buying 1 year). Since I do not have the required work experience for an MBA, I can only aim for Master Programs (MSF, MSc, MiM, etc.) which I thought only existed in Europe (no pre-experience graduate degrees in the US).

I was rejected by LSE, and Bocconi only offers 2-year programs, so my first choice was the Master in International Business at HEC Paris. However I just heard about the Duke MMS program and am now seriously considering it.

These are my pros and cons:

HEC (Master in International Business)
+ top reputation in Europe (I would rather like to work in US however), cheaper (only $30k), interesting courses (sounds like a mini-MBA)
- target mainly for Europe, no placement in US (?) (unknown in US?)

Duke (MMS)
+ Duke brand name, US target (better if I want to work in the US (?))
- "Foundations of Business" sounds a little strange for somebody who already has a business undergrad + a finance masters degree. does that even make sense at all??? are there any similar programs in the US that offer masters for business/finance majors?

Thanks a lot.

I think you need to really assess why you need another specialized masters. If you are international also realize that sponsorship in the US is difficult at this time. Duke has a great program, but it is no guarantee.

thank you for your answers.

@TNA I'm just thinking I need another masters from a top-tier school. my 2 degrees from my non-non-target university will not bring me anywhere I feel ...

@LoneStarDevil thanks, PM'd you
