Economics/statistics undergrad vs economics single degree
Hi all, New to this forum Just got a question about my bachelor degree choice. So I'm planning on going to university and I've came across a couple of degrees and don't know which would be more useful. There is a single economics degree(4years) and a double econonomic/statistics one(5years) taught in the same university. My goal is to get in a (macro) hedge fund and eventually become a Portfolio manager. Do you think an extra year is worth it? Or maybe a master or work experience is more useful? Is statistics any use for investing? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Best regards Lawrence.
I would encourage you to avoid doing a double major, especially if it requires you to stay an extra year. Statistics minor makes sense though. It's one of the more marketable skill sets and fits in nicely with econ/finance.
