Esade vs HEC vs LBS
Dear Monkeys,
I Hope you are all doing well.
I have a decision to make and I would love your opinion on the matter.
When I received my offer for Strategy& it was initially 6 month after graduation. Later, they also pushed our offers for 6 more months, turning it into a 1 year gap.
I had already done the GRE and scored 335/340. Thus, I agreed with HR that I will complete a 1 year Master Program within this gap, and we signed a contract where I would join as Associate 1(Instead of A0) in September 2026.
As of now, I got accepted into: Esade - Master in Finance with excellence award/scholarship HEC Paris - Master in Economics & Finance and got shortlisted for Interview at: LBS - Master in Financial Analysis.
I plan to complete my sponsored MBA in the US later, so I will have a big school on my CV, but I still want to make the most out of this.
In all honesty, I believe Esade is the best fit for me, considering I would be able to learn Spanish, and experience the life in Barcelona, whilst still being in a Top 10 business school.
However, I also know that HEC and LBS are two of the top schools globally.
For HEC however I got accepted into my second choice (my first choice being Master in International Finance), and I also know the French tend to be elitist, and sometimes look down on people who don’t follow the grand ecole route.
For LBS, I also don’t see myself really living in London (weather, crime rate, …)
For France specifically, I went to Paris for vacation for 2 weeks and it was a nice experience, though the weather was again too cold for my liking. (I’m native level in the French language)
I’m just worried that picking Esade would be the wrong choice here, even though I feel I would have the most enjoyable time there.
I would love your point of view on this, as I fell you guys would provide me with some good insights.
Please note:
Tuition difference between the schools is pretty minimal.
I would love to complete a summer internship in IB at a BB or EB, or at a PE shop before joining Strategy&, as it’s a goal of mine and I feel it will help me transition into the buy-side later in my career.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
I look forward to hearing what you have to say!
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's a breakdown of your options and considerations:

3. LBS - Master in Financial Analysis
Key Considerations:
Recommendation:
Ultimately, the decision depends on how much weight you place on career outcomes versus personal preferences. If you feel Esade will provide the most enjoyable experience and you’re confident in leveraging the program for your career goals, it could be the right choice. However, if you want to maximize your chances of breaking into IB or PE, HEC or LBS might be worth the trade-offs.

If you are sure about the job you have already lined up, then definitely ESADE - lifestyle will be maximized.
If you are considering potentially re-recruiting, then iI would go with HEC - simply best reputation and outcome for business MsCs in Europe.
