ESSEC MiM (Intensive) vs ESADE vs IE vs EDHEC — Best for Breaking into IB (London)
Hi all,
I’m deciding between ESADE MiF and IE MiF (both admitted), and waiting on EDHEC MiF and the ESSEC MiM Intensive Track (1-year).
My goal is to break into M&A in London, though I’m open to other European locations. I have a couple of years of experience already (not IB related), plus an EU passport and UK work permit.
From what I’ve read, ESSEC is generally the strongest overall for IB. But there’s a catch: the MiM Intensive Track is new (only in its first year as I write) and lasts just 1 year (unlike the traditional MiM). It’s designed for candidates with work experience, and while you still graduate with the Grande Ecole diploma and can specialize in finance, I’m unsure how this compares to a traditional MiF when it comes to IB recruiting, especially for London.
For what concerns the others, IE seems to be better ranked but Esade seems to have more alumni in bb and eb
Any insight on:
- The value of ESSEC MiM Intensive vs a traditional MiF, especially for IB placement?
- How ESADE vs IE vs EDHEC compare for IB in London?
- How do they compare in their respective countries? (e.g. Esade>IE for Spain recruiting or opposite?)
Would really appreciate any thoughts!

Recommendation:
If your primary goal is M&A in London, ESSEC MiM Intensive is likely your best bet, given ESSEC's overall strength in IB placement. However, if you are concerned about the newness of the Intensive Track, ESADE MiF would be a strong alternative, especially with its growing alumni presence in London.
