European MSc in Finance Advice

Hi everyone,

My first post at WSO, although I am a long time reader.

Currently working in a finance / strategy position at a Swiss corporation, I wish to transition to investment management (PE/VC/HF), whilst at the same time I feel ripe for going back to school. Therefore, I decided to pursue a MSc in Finance. Hopefully, some of you will be able to advice me on schools I listed in my post or/and recommend others.

I believe that to transition from my current background, I would need a 2-year degree, as this would allow me to do a few summer, off-cycle internships. Let me know if you think otherwise.

My profile:

• BSc from RSM (cum laude)
• Exchange at Bocconi (focus on finance).
• GMAT: 740 (Q48; V42)
• 1.5y of experience at my current job. Not a very known brand outside Switzerland (a non-financial). However, I got a lot of exposure to senior management and participated in decision making frequently.
• Some other non-finance internships, part-time experiences
• Finance related extra-curricular
• Hope to be German fluent in a year or so.

Schools:

Tier 1: ESSEC, LBS, Bocconi Tier 2: SSE, EDHEC, St Gallen

Again, did not consider much the 1y degrees.

EDHEC (MIM Financial Economics) in particular sounds very appealing to me, however I have seen mixed opinions. My arguments for it:

1) Ranks extremely well in FT rankings 2) Brief LinkedIn research shows quite a few alumni at top spots (GS, JPM, etc.) and not only in France, but in London as well 3) Double degree with MIT is a fairly unique feature 4) I could probably land a scholarship there

If you have an insider's perspective into this school, would highly appreciate.
