feedback

I am choosing between the two MBA programs...I was hoping to get some feedback from those that are enrolled in or graduated from either of these schools? My main purpose of the MBA program is to transition from commercial banking into IB,IM, or maybe even corp dev. Definitely would like to stay local in Southern California

Though I know rankings are very important, I'd like to know how these two programs help candidates in terms of career services, networking opportunities, and just overall experience...and the possibilities of transitioning given the available resources. Thanks in advance.

kmzzpretty sure u already know the answer!
definitely a clear rankings and "prestige" comparison...I was more interested in peoples' experience, particularly those in the Orange County area. I've seen a lot of people at PIMCO with MBA's from Merage, as well as other local investment firms that went or currently go to Merage. I was curious to see if local firms favor or recruit more at Merage in comparison to Marshall? Would definitely assume that LA firms favor Marshall.

I worked in the OC this summer at one of the firms in the List of 200 banks thread; firm was almost all SC ppl (incl. me). There is a big presence of SC in the OC in finance and just in general. Dont know if you live there but if you did you'd know that basically all the nice cars have SC plates :}
I've looked on linkedin before and I'd feel confident in saying there are as many or more Marshall people at PIMCO vs. Merage

thx for the feedback....i do live in OC, and the observations made are definitely the same on my end. I know marshall's considered a semi-target on this forum, but it seems like the trojan network is pretty prevalent in socal. Any idea of what firms participate in OCR?

as of right now for ib: bain, ubs, macq, guggenheim, credit suisse, citi, jefferies, barclays, wells, bofa, houlihan, jpmorgan, demeter, goldman (non ib), and job listings (non ocr) for a lot of others

happypantsmcgee thanks for the 4 seconds, I'm sure other members reading will appreciate the OCR list for Marshall thanks for posting the link...kmzz thank you very much for the useful information, for people not in the industry yet, it's not as familiar to filter out the finance/ investment firms immediately, I appreciate it!

In terms of OCR, and the list the happypantsmcgee posted... is it typically schoolwide OCR events for all programs and levels, or are they split by undergrad and MBA levels?

It's split by grad/undergrad and the School of Business will have its own OCR independent from the other schools. Usually, you can only resume drop/apply for the jobs listed on the recruitment site for your individual school.
