Finalizing College List Before I Go Further

Thus far, for EA/ED, I finished UMich, USC, Indiana (No supplemental), and SMU (direct admit). I'm wondering if it's worth to ED anywhere (the prior schools are all EA) for the meaningful acceptance rate bump even though my application won't be finalized until RD due date (pending investment internship and trying to go from 1500 --> 1530+). Below is my list--adjusted for the previously mentioned colleges. Any ideas where to ED or what to add, remove, change. Thanks. If you want stats just let me know and I can provide more information.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights and suggestions for your college list and ED strategy:

Early Decision (ED) Strategy:

  • ED Consideration: Applying ED can significantly boost your chances of acceptance, especially at highly competitive schools. However, ensure that the school you choose for ED is your top choice and that you are comfortable committing to it if accepted.
  • Application Finalization: Since your application won't be finalized until the RD due date, consider whether you can present a strong enough application for ED. If not, it might be better to focus on EA and RD applications.

College List Adjustments:

Schools to Consider for ED:

  • UPenn (Wharton): Known for its strong finance and business programs, which align with your interest in investment banking.
  • Columbia: Offers a significant advantage in finance and business due to its location in New York City.
  • Duke: Strong overall reputation and good placement in finance.
  • Northwestern: Excellent business program and strong alumni network.

Schools to Add:

  • Lower Ivies and Top Publics: Consider adding schools like Michigan, UVA, and UNC as reaches. These schools have strong programs and might offer a better chance of acceptance compared to the top Ivies.
  • Safety Schools: Ensure you have a mix of safeties and matches. Schools like IU Kelley, Boston College, and SMU are good options.

Additional Tips:

  • Extracurriculars: Highlight leadership roles and significant achievements in your extracurricular activities.
  • Interviews: Prepare thoroughly for interviews, as they can be a deciding factor in admissions.

By considering these adjustments and strategies, you can optimize your college application process and increase your chances of acceptance at your desired schools.

if you're confident in your profile you can definitely try but UPenn tends to be slightly more competitive in ED than Dartmouth, Northwestern, Cornell and NYU Stern. Especially for Wharton

Columbia definitely more of a target but if you work your ass off and network well Dartmouth can put you in a great position to land top buyside gigs straight out of undergrad
