Fordham Gabelli (Full ride) vs CMU Tepper (FullCost)

Hi.

Please bear with me as this is my first post. But I am interested in pursuing a career in Investment Banking. I have received Recognition scholarship for Fordham Gabelli (Full tuition aid) and I also got into Tepper CMU but I have to pay the full tuition. Any guidance on pluses and minuses of the two business schools for undergraduate. I have a strong math background and would minor in either computer science or applied math that can assist with IB career. I can afford to pay full tuition at CMU luckily that I have this choice possible without the constraint of going into debt.

Appreciate your help in advance.

Cheers.

I went to gabelli and I can say that the school has a lot of kids who place in IB(many from my class are in BBs and EBs).It has a lot of recognition in NYC and an extensive alumni network. For a full-ride, I think that the experience is definitely worth it if you grind hard enough.

Fordham unless your parents are extremely wealthy + full tuition is not a real consideration + you really prefer CMU

CMU is an excellent name school but that is a LOT of money to pay versus a full ride at a solid school... IMO I would only pay that much for a really top target - CMU you will still have to network quite a bit. While Fordham isn't a target either, there's a lot of advantages - alums will fight for you, school is in NYC so you can have internships almost every semester andd network in person.

Also as a bit of a sidebar - if you are set on IB and not considering comp sci, would encourage you not to minor in math or compsci just to "assist with IB career"... those are very difficult curriculum that will hurt your GPA, and there's next to no extra consideration in IB recruiting for having a very difficult minor. Stick with finance major, get the best GPA possible and use the extra time for internships or networking. Finance major with a 3.8+ is 100% checking the box for education

Thank you very much. My parents are solid middle class but fortunate that have a funded 529, so I can graduate without debt if I go to CMU. I was reading in earlier forums that IB positions look for rigor of academics and hence wanted to minor in Computer Science. Also might be a solid pathway to tech as well if IB is not it for me once I start the journey. At least that is the thought process. In Gabelli they have a liberal core like Theology, Philosophy and will that hurt the GPA? from OCR perspective are Gabelli and Tepper at the same level for IB?
