HELP!! I go to school at St. Johns

Hi everyone! Please excuse the lengthy post. I am currently going into my 2nd year at St Johns University in Queens. I am in Tobin Business school getting my B.S degree in Economics. I am happy with SJU, socially. However, I am now becoming aware of the poor reputation that SJU has. Professors with experience in the financial industry have even warned us of the weight that our school carries. I am hesitant to move forward with obtaining my degree from St Johns. I am worried because ultimately, I did not move across the country to have the " college experience". I came to NY to pursue a financial career. I noticed how much better other colleges around the city present themselves. This was evident in a few financial competitions I was involved in, SJU just couldnt compete with the likes of NYU Stern and CUNY colleges. I will be over 100k in student loan debt when I graduate in 2019 SO I am looking to transfer to a more well-respected college in NYC. Unfortunately, i currently have a 3.0 gpa. As and Bs in my core+major specific courses and a embarrassing D- in an elective French course... What are my chances? Is transferring the best option for me? When would be the best time to go about transferring?

Thank you!! Any comments are welcomed and appreciated
