HYP vs. CBD

I'm starting to write essays and figure out my college list and early school. Will going to Columbia, Brown, or Dartmouth over HYP mess up my chances at top IB/PE/product managment/VC/etc.? My fit school is one of the CBD but dunno if I'm screwing myself by not attending Yale or wherever.

Contrary to popular belief, you will not screw yourself for those jobs if you don't attend Yale.

Those are all amazing schools. Attending any of those schools won't guarantee you a job in any of those roles but you will be positioned very well. Harvard may position you better for some of the most elusive roles (e.g., Blackstone PE) but few kids will land those gigs.

Don't overthink it too much. Going to Brown (assuming you get in) isn't going to sink you versus the HYP kids.

I know you omitted Penn and Cornell but if you're set on IB/PE, I'd look into Wharton (arguably the top spot to be for those roles) as well as Dyson (maybe Cornell Engineering if you are leaning more towards product management / want more flexibility).

College admissions is a crapshoot, especially with test-optional policies. Might as well cast a wide net if you apply RD. I applied to a bunch of great schools but honestly wish I had applied to more.
