If I study Computer Science at Brown, can I still break into IB
Hi there,I am thinking about going to Brown and I want to break into IB.I also want to go into SWD in case IB fails. I want to have a useful degree under my belt. Can I break in with a cs degree?
Know people at Brown who did CS and Econ or CS and finance as a degree and were able to get offers from GS/MS/JPM

Cannot confirm. But I believe so. I think if anything you would want to major in CS over Econ. Maybe do CS major and econ or finance minor (not sure if that is possible at Brown, not familiar with their system).

Which one is easier to find a job in?
I want to be able to have both options available in case I can’t handle one or the other
ibd (at least bbs) takes bright kids from any majors, including japanese, music and gender studies at top schools
It looks like the concentration of CS and Econ is basically a major. You have an option as to how deep you want to go. https://bulletin.brown.edu/the-college/concentrations/csec/ - Additionally, I saw a data analysis certificate is available. This would be very good as Data Science skills would be invaluable if you want to be on the technical side.

The ubfortunate truth is no. IBs typically prefer kids with really soft majors (English, history, art, etc.). They also have a deep disdain for Ivy leaguers, in general, and for Brown, in particular. With the combo of CS at Brown, I just really don’t see any chance tbh

Yeah, just network like anyone else. Plenty of Brown alums at BB’s and with a CS degree you’ll be fine. Know a guy in a pretty good group at a BB that majored in history at Brown, if he could do it you can too.
Stop misleading him. If by the small, small chance that his resume doesn’t get auto screened, he’ll never make it through a first round without the interviewer sniffing him out. I’m sorry but you should’ve thought of this before going to Brown
