Investing about $40,000 as a college student

This summer I will be interning in IB and I will have about $40,000 after tax in savings (combined with my previous savings). I will be staying home in the fall semester for my last semester and will only have to pay about $5k in tuition. How should I invest this money? Should I just focus on ETFs and not pay much attention or actually put the money to work in a different way? Any insight would be great.
