JD/MBA vs JD
Hi all, Do you think 3 years JD/MBA is much more competitive than just JD? I mean in terms of GPA, work experience, and acceptance rate. Do you think it requires like 3.9 GPA and 780 on GMAT or 335 for GRE(total) plus 5 years of work experience? JD/MBA can tackle both Law firms, and consulting firms but competitiveness is the problem. Because I think 1-2 years of work experience will not be sufficient to apply JD/MBA program?
They are harder to get into because you need to get in to both schools. You need to look at the MBA program and the JD program separately. Are you competitive for that law school? Are you competitive for that MBA?
You need to answer affirmatively to both in order to be competitive for the JD/MBA.
JD requires high GPAs like 3.9 or 4.0. This is because JD candidates usually take easy majors in undergrad and get high marks. JD candidates don't need any experience, but for MBAs (even in a JD/MBA program), you're going to need at least 2 years of experience. 1 year isn't enough. Also, JD/MBA graduates typically work in law for 2-4 years before switching to straight up business or finance roles.
But 2 years experience doesn’t include internship right? Like some people get internships from 4 different companies which total 9 months to 1 year
I am talking about JD/MBA not MBA
I was referring to the MBA in a JD/MBA program. You have to be accepted to both programs and compete against regular MBA students to get into a JD/MBA program.
