Master Finance and Strategy at Sciences Po

Hello everybody,

I'm new on WSO and wanted to know if you could help me regarding my masters choice. I am currently an undergraduate at UK university and I was accepted in the Master Finance and Strategy at Sciences Po in France. I want to go back in France for my master's but I don't know if this master's is well known by recruiters and if it isn't better to go to other French BSchools such as ESSEC or ESCP? I have seen that the Master in finance and strategy prepares students for CFA lvl 1 and has an double degree available in second year with the Bocconi.
I want to work in IB after my master's and don't really know if this master (Finance and Strategy) is a good option for me.

Thank you for your help !!

Not quite. In France, you would find HEC >>>>> ESSEC > ESCP >= Sciences Po

Hey fellow Chimp,

Comparing Sciences Po per say to ESSEC or ESCP makes no sense. It would be like comparing LSE as a whole to LBS.
However, when it comes to work opportunities Sciences Po FinStrat master's degree is excellent. First of all you'd get the Sciences Po brand name, which despite being stained quite a lot these past few years still opens as many doors as before. Sciences Po is also all about networking/nepotism, even more than HEC/ESCP/ESSEC which also helps, especially if you want to do Sovereign Advisory at Lazard or R&Co for example.

I personally did pick a Top 3 Business School MiM instead of Sciences Po because I already had a master's degree in a discipline quite close to international relations, and really wanted to emphasis a career switch. But tbf, it will open you the same doors.

Sorry but if you want banking or anything related:

HEC MiM or MoF >> ESSEC MiM >>> others

Can’t speak much about ESSEC MoF, Seen mixed reviews. ScPo will NOT be a good choice if you’re non-French and even then if you were French, it still wouldn’t be easy to land banking roles in France or London. My friend attended the program and is still sitting at home post graduation since some 6-7 months
