Masters, US & Abroad Input.

I am an American looking at several masters programs here in the states and abroad. Knowing that the MSF is not really recognized in the US, I am really considering doing one in the EU, working for a few years and then coming back to the US for an MBA.

I only speak English Fluently so here are the EU schools:

UK: Cass - Warwick - Imperial - LSE

France: HEC - Paris

NL: RSM - HES Amstedam - University of Amsterdam Business School

Ireland: Trinity - UCD Smurfit

US schools: Villanova - Duke mms - UVA mc - UT Austin mpa - BC

I am also curious to know if any of the US schools I mentioned export well to the EU, I figured Duke maybe.

Good target universities you can add to the list:

UK: London Business School - http://www.london.edu/

Sweden: Stockholm School of Economics - http://www.hhs.se/Pages/default.aspx

Switzerland: St. Gallen - http://www.sim.unisg.ch/LandPages/SIM/landingpage.htm

You'll be absolutely with only speaking English in both Sweden and Switzerland. Bocconi in Italy is also a good school don't know how you'll get on without Italian though.

I'm an American leaving for the EU to get my MBA this fall at INSEAD and so I did a ton of research on programs in the EU. I have some friends that are studying at IE Business in Madrid now and love their MSF program and one just landed a FT gig at DB. I was actually looking at their MBA program there as well and from what I hear it is a highly ranked and respected program. On top of that Madrid is an amazing city to live in and the nightlife is second to none. Spanish woman IMO are top notch!

Awesome Cityguy, congrats on INSEAD. Im more of a Irish girls type myself. I checked LinkedIn and saw a good amount of Trinity grads in London with some pretty good positions and even a fair amount in the US. Is Trinity a well regarded school in EU as a whole?

I agree with Cityguy, UCD Smurfit is the only top caliber Irish school. I would focus on the UK schools listed, and you can always take a RyanAir or EasyJet over to Dublin or Cork, if you really need some Irish action.

On a side note, my uncle is from Bristol, UK and owns a successful international business and a lot of his customers/partners/etc have degrees from Cass and LBS.

I have the opportunity to do study abroad this fall and have Cass,Warwick, UC Dublin, HES Amsterdam, Oxford and Bocconi in mind. I can only apply to 2 of the 3 UK programs and cant help but think i will be bored to death at Warwick. With this, and keeping in mind I only speak english what do u think would be the best bet?

OP, I also re-read your post and it said you wanted to work in the EU after you complete your MSF. Just a warning, it's incredibly hard to land a gig in the EU as an U.S citizen (unless you get an offer from a BB). I have friends that returned home after finishing MSf b/c companies won't hire an American straight out of school. They are also loaded with debt after financing their education. Then they are having trouble finding a job here in the States because they have an MSF/MBA from a EU school where it's not as valued/known here in the States.
