MBA Consulting?

Curious if anyone has worked with an admissions consultant and rec’s if available. What I’m looking for I guess would be the equivalent of a headhunter but for MBA admissions, if someone like this even exists?

If there was an opportunity to speak with someone, what I would hope to get out of the conversation would be a critique of how I stand as an applicant today vs. if I waited a year or two to improve any pre-requisite skills I would be lacking in.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it seems that many people have found value in working with MBA admissions consultants. They can provide insights into what makes an application unique, help you understand trends in admissions, and keep you on schedule with your application process. They can also help tailor your applications to specific schools.

However, it's important to remember that while consultants can provide guidance and help you present your best self, they can't fundamentally change who you are as an applicant. As the saying goes, consultants can "help you stand up straight, but they can’t make you taller”.

In terms of whether to apply now or wait a year or two, a consultant could certainly provide advice on that front. They could assess your current profile and suggest areas for improvement, which might influence your decision on when to apply.

Remember, though, that not everyone agrees on the value of admissions consultants. Some people believe that they don't add much value and that the industry is somewhat of a "semi-scam". Ultimately, the decision to use a consultant should be based on your personal needs and circumstances.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
