MBA Decision: UVA Darden or Cornell Johnson (w/ $) for Career Change into IB
As the title says, I'm currently debating between Darden and Johnson. I received merit aid from Johnson; however, I don't think it's currently enough to sway me over.
Speaking with Darden students it sounds like they're able to recruit just fine for IB (w/ caveat that fewer people seek IB jobs post-MBA). Johnson has its IB Immersion with Pascarella that is well-regarded, and a larger network on the Street. I enjoyed both equally, but I'm leaning towards Darden. Am I crazy for doing so given Johnson's strength with IB and the larger alum base on the Street?
Background: Career changer seeking IB Previous work exp is not quant heavy, but I'm at an AM firm and should have passed L2 of the CFA exam going into school. Hoping the passing of L1/L2 signals ability to understand finance concepts etc. for any recruiting screens. Other school I'd pick would be LBS (waitlisted though and I'm skeptical I'll come off based off LBS' history).
Thanks!
Darden
I got into Cornell with some $ as you did.
Didn't go.
I didn't apply to Darden, but I do think it's a better place to get your MBA than Cornell.
Thanks! What would you say about Stern v. Darden? I generally sought out college towns for apps as I've always lived in large metros, but I haven't completely closed the door on Stern.
