MBA internship search - how far to push?

Working on an internship search right now, and I have narrowed down my focus to a smaller list. I thought about adding a few companies to reach out for opportunities, but that'd be tapping into my personal networks. My hope is to reach out to my contacts about those intern at their firms.... but I also wonder if it gets awkward for me to reject any of those offers in the future that I was "extremely interested" of.
