MiF SSE vs ESSEC vs St Gallen vs Imperial vs Warwick
Hi everyone. I am a 20 year old Italian student currently completing my degree in International Economics and Finance at Bocconi University. I can speak English (bilingual level) and Spanish (B2 level) other than my mother tongue. I have done 2 small internships in a large consulting firm in Milan, but I'm certain they are not enough to be hired (I'm going to need another internship). I would like to continue my studies by doing an MSc in Finance outside of Italy (but still in Europe).
ESSEC has accepted my application to their MiF, Warwick has given me a scholarship for their MiF, and I am waiting for the results of SSE, Imperial College and St Gallen (I have already completed the interviews for both SSE and Imperial).
I don't really know which university to choose if the others also give me an offer, since I don't know which MiF would land me a job in PE or IB and, most importantly, if they would land me a job abroad (not in Italy). I would love to work in London or Paris, but I don't know if French firms would hire me since I don't know French.
Can anyone give me any input on the decision I have to take? Any sort of advice would be greatly appreciated.
Would be careful with the French market. From what I see, people in my uni that don't speak French cannot place anywhere. Banks and funds will require French most of the time. So, if you decide on a French school, your ultimate goal should be London. HEC will be the best for that, will be harder if you go to ESSEC.
If you look at the stats, St. Gallen places extremely well in London. I believe it is the school that JP hires the most from for the London office. You can check the official stats, I think they are somewhere on WSO. There was a picture of the SA introduction slides posted somewhere.
I did essec but the prépa and MiM. The ESSEC mif is a low tier program. It's not well seen in Paris and the essec brand is not enough for London.
Warwick is not the best for its masters.
ST gallen would be best choice since its a 2 year master and allows you to do some internships
Are you sure the MiF of ESSEC is low tier? It places extremely well in numerous rankings
Compared to their MiM yes. The cohort is much lower quality in the essec mif so the outcomes are evidently mediocre... For Paris it can be okay but for London definitely not.
Currently the only respectable mifs in france are hec and escp, and maybe sciences po. But if you don't speak French I'd recommend uk schools only
