MIT MFin 3.6 dual degree

Hi, I'm an undergrad at Umass Amherst, dual degree in actuarial math and economics (four years), 3.57 gpa and studying hard to take the GMAT soon. I love math and I love econ and I know that MIT's MFin would be a really great fit for me. Any idea what my chances are? OR what I need to do to increase my chances? I know that an as high as possible GMAT would help, and also killer essays too. Any advice would be great!

Thank you! That's my other thing, I had an internship the summer of my freshman year but have not had much luck since then. I have a decent chance at getting one this winter, I'm sort of stuck on that end at this point.

You're about to graduate in a month right? What are your summer plans or do you have a FT job lined up? Why didn't it work out to get an internship the last couple of years? That's not a good smoke signal to send. You might be better off working for a couple years and doing really well and then applying for a Masters.

think of MIT MFin this way---they're not dumpsters for people who cannot work in fine jobs directly after undergrad.

They're for undergrads who can work in better jobs with MIT refresh button.

GPA is fine but not gold-plated. UG prestige, course difficulty, and the raw GPA all count. Good that UM Amherst is right by MIT for easy reference (which is something like a University of China cannot do).

Where is your work experience? It's not a route to PhD which you may never need any work in the industry. Internships shows your interests.

GMAT needs to be rocking too. You don't want to be subpar or par, because you will see crazy profiles throwing applications in for the same seat you want
