Hi everybody, I am really excited that I got accepted to MIT Sloan MBA program, among other good B-schools (MIT Sloan is my top choice).
I am just a bit worried about my fit in the school (I have had no chance to go and visit the school for now or one of the visit weekends). I am quite an outgoing person, I like to go out and I consider myself the opposite to a "geek".
I would like to know your opinions on what you think of the culture! Thanks a lot in advance
I admit I am completely biased in that I got my MBA from MIT Sloan and I still work across the street but I think your conception of MIT Sloan is somewhat off. Contrary to popular belief, the days of MIT being filled with geeks is long gone. What you will find particularly at Sloan, is a very dynamic group of people with the vast majority being extroverts rather than introverts. It is an entrepreneurial culture in the extreme, so you will find interesting people, thinking about exciting things. Assuming you are outgoing, you will likely fit right in.
That said, don't believe me. Even if you can't go there, try to at least talk to some current students or recent alumni. With some prowling on the web, you likely may already know some students through Linkedin or some of your other networks. Sloan is also the place where you will likely get a response to even a blind email. [If you like wine, email the president of the wine club; or if you play basketball, try the captain of the basketball club. Etc.] Don't be afraid to ask them directly, is Sloan a place filled with geeks? They likely had a similar worry before they got to know the place.
No matter what, congratulations, it is a great school.
Gonna second this guy's comments. I went to a different M7, but Sloan was among the schools I applied to, and in my conversations with then-current and graduated Sloanies I always found them to be very sociable and easy to get along with. Ranked them very highly for culture, up there with Kellogg and Tuck.

Two girls I know who went to Sloan are both attractive and outgoing/social and enjoyed their experiences there.
Congrats!! I'd enroll and not look back. Whole city of Boston at your door step means more social opportunities than you'll know what to do with and that its inevitable that you'll find a social niche where you fit in
I think the term geek, in the stereotypical sense is a thing of the past. What I think you will find is incredibly intelligent, well traveled and simulating individuals. I know being from the area that you will absolutely not regret your choice, you may not even want to leave.

M7 students are largely interchangeable and B-schools screen for personality during interviews so wouldn't worry too much about anything culture specific.
