MS Finance in the US - worth it?

Hi all. I’m thinking about going to UT Austin for a MS in finance, starting in spring intake of 2026. The reason I’m choosing UT Austin specifically is because it has an HPI visa for the UK (where I am right now) and could potentially become handy in getting into a front office full time role. With all that’s going on, I’m curious if I have a good chance.

My profile suits the market also quite well. Internships so far:

1. Big 4 internship, specialised in oil & gas

2. Internship in consulting in Europe in real estate

3. Internship in project finance debt in London

4. Internship in infra PE, clean energy groups also based in London

Im interviewing with a boutique M&A shop for an internship as well and if things go right it could position my profile well for recruitment. I’m not able to find a full time sponsoring role in London despite my best efforts. I’ve had ACs and final rounds with multiple banks but no luck so far.

I understand I won’t have much to recruit for off-cycle and my best chance would be to network and market my experience. I’ve had plenty of energy experience so far, so I’m counting on this to get me through the first obstacle in networking.

UTA might be good for undergrads but what’s the market for grad students? Is it worth the investment?

Have you done Tulane MME? How is it?
I have a bit of energy sector exp and would love to work in that domain but there's so little info on the program, it's so small, and a lot of the 25c on LinkedIn don't have jobs listed. or it's a trading job I can't gauge the legitimacy of.
