Need Advice. Is weekend M7 MBA worth it for my situation?

  • Current situation: $220k base + ~25% bonus at publicly traded REIT. But no equity, RSU's, etc. LCOL city. Manage large development projects. Wife also works and makes $140k, but that could change after we have kids. We'll see.
  • Goal: stay at current company, but be more competitive for future growth (VP+). Hope to increase comp, get RSU's, etc over time.
  • More context: working in real estate with an architecture undergrad, so want to have a top MBA to get ahead of/remove any potential questioning or hesitation about my finance, leadership, decision-making, negotiation capability. (Of course, much of this can be proven on the job, but in a competitive environment, the thought is that this would help stand out and remove any hesitation).

Appreciate any and all advice, especially if anyone else has had a similar decision in your career.

Your situation/comp look great. If you are looking to stay at your company, the obvious answer would be to see if your company would pay for your part time MBA (which in that case you wouldn't need M7 - a strong state school brand in your state could also work). The key though is getting your company to pay for it.

Is there anyone in your company you have a good relationship who is a bit higher than you who either has an MBA or did something similar (different grad degree, some kind of cert/training, etc.). Would be great to get more info on if your company would value the MBA or if something else would be more worth your time.
