Need Help! Rotman VS Wisconsin MBA in Applied Securities Analysis

HI all My first post in this forum

I recently got into Rotman F/T MBA and Wisconsin Madison-MBA in Applied Securities Analysis I am from a hedge fund Admin backgroud (risk middle office ,almost 3 yrs), would like to break into IB/HF.

----I am a Chinese Citzizen+ Canada PR, would it be tough to compete for jobs in US after graduation from Wisconsin?(Chicago would be my target city) ---- In terms of cost, Rotman costs $80,000 for the program, wisconsin cost $ 50,000 and I had a $20,000 Scholoarship+GA ----Rotman has a bigger cohort, Wisconsin ASAP has about 20 ppl and a sound placement record

Would like to get some of your advice on the 2 schools, Many thanks!!

The CEO of the CFA insitute, the Global Head of Equities of UBS Asset Mgmt, and the founder of Adage Capital Mgmt (manages $8 billion, hq in Boston) are all alumni of the UW program.

The Rotman MBA isn't that great- and if you are definitely sure you want to work on the buy-side, the UW is the better program.

I know a recent ASAP alum who placed at UBS equity research.

The ASAP is set apart from the rest of UW MBA. I visited there and really liked it. The caliber of students in the program are on par with top 15 MBA students.

The program is really a niche (20 students) and you will def not get proper insight on this – or virtually any – internet forum. Try to reach out to alum and see how they have placed. They talk a great game but make sure you see some hard numbers about placement.

ASAP seems great but you must be 100% sure that you want ER/HF/AM. Otherwise, you are wasting your time.
