Non-Kelley Schools for IB Placement for High School Screwups

I was wondering which college you would suggest a high school 3.5 gpa student apply to (with a reasonable amount of confidence that he or she would get in) to try to break into Investment Banking through a large network (thinking state schools). I'm a good 5 years out of banking and want to help a younger cousin but I'm a little too detached from IB recruiting to know on my own.

I'm not joking, but still please don't suggest IU kelley because I've heard that a few times

EDIT: I was a 3.0 in hs so please don't call me elitist lol

TBH there's nowhere that has comparable placement as Kelley for HS screw ups/B students- as a "semi target".

Other top state school semi targets (top state schools UNC, UT-Austin, UCLA) and private semi-targets (Notre Dame, Vandy, USC, Emory) are actually decently hard to get into. Maybe Wisconsin or Miami (OH)? But their placement isn't even close to the IBW.

The beauty of Kelley is apparently you can just transfer into the b-school (if you aren't directly admitted) after a year or so and mostly everyone can get into the overall school as a freshman. Coming from a Non-IU person.

University of Illinois has an academy that you can be admitted into as a sophomore that has a 100% placement rate in banks across NY, Chi, and SF. Check out their website. Just gotta apply, kill the technicals, kill the case comp, show face, be a likeable and network, and have at least a 3.8 going in.

Also yes, Wisconsin and there are a lot of schools it seems like close to NY just because it is easier to network.

Low semi-targets here but would say that some other mid-level schools that place decently are Penn State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Florida, Illinois, and Rutgers if you get into their specialized programs

Michigan State has a program similar to all these schools- a lot of kids in this program end up in Chicago IB. You could probably get admitted into MSU and Broad with 3.5 but you would need to ace Freshman year to get into their program.
