Northeastern University/ Fordham University
Hey all, I am struggling to choose between two non-targets – Northeastern University (D’Amore McKim School of Business), Boston, and Fordham University (Gabelli School of Business), NY for pursuing my Ms in Finance. My goal is to break into the investment management space to secure a job in PE or IB as an analyst. I am aware that studying at a non-target makes the ask more difficult but keeping in mind the options in front of me I am keen on making the right choice as I invest in my future. I recognize that the curriculum differences at these two universities are important factors to consider, apart from that I am curious about the following-
1) Kick starting a career in IB/PE in Boston vs New York City
2) Brand value of these universities if there are any Alumni who can help me out.
Lastly, another factor I must consider is that one of the universities has a quant-focused curriculum. To be perfectly candid, I do not have a very strong foundation in quant. I was curious to know to what extent this would be useful for a career in IB/PE.
muggedup, bummer your thread hasn't had a response yet. Sometimes bots are smarter than humans anyways:

Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
Fordham all day long on this one. The Gabelli school of business is growing rapidly and the internship/FT ops in NYC from Fordham are getting better every year. Slates of students going to BB's in S&T and IBD as well as several students placed into very selective junior buy side roles. However, just my two cents. Good Luck - Both great schools!
thanks for a2a, leaning towards Fordham as well and this really helped!
Do you have numbers for this? I was recently admitted to Gabelli RH as an undergrad. Thanks
Yes as a graduating seniors right now, over 25 going to BB for IB, 10-20 going to MM, and around 5-10 going to buyside roles.
Nice, how is the placement for MBB?
Also, would you say the kids are happy there? I've so many mixed perspectives on the social scene, and know the school has around an 85% retention rate
Northeastern if you can get a co-op at a bank. They have co-ops at many of the BB/MMs now and plenty at boutiques (regional), so you could have a leg up while recruiting for FT.
